Yaya’s Tips for Success
This warm, crumbly coffee cake brings such comfort with each slice. To make sure yours bakes up tender with that perfect sweet crumble, remember these handy tips:
- Always blend the batter by hand for a light texture.
- Use fresh baking powder for the best rise.
- Grease your 9×9 pan well so every crumb lifts out clean.
- Let the cake cool a bit before cutting so the streusel sets just right.
- A sprinkle of powdered sugar on top right before serving never hurt anybody!
Yaya’s Customization Ideas
This recipe leaves plenty of room for your own twist.
- Sometimes I swap the nuts for chopped pecans or walnuts depending on what I have handy.
- If you like a fruit layer, scatter a handful of fresh blueberries over the first layer of batter before adding the streusel.
For another breakfast treat, you might enjoy my Broccoli Quiche on the side; it balances out the sweetness perfectly.
