This Southern Pecan Pie is one of Mama Shirley’s favorites and a treasured classic in our family. With just a few simple ingredients and a deep-dish crust, it bakes into a rich, buttery, pecan-filled dessert that’s perfect for holidays or any time you want a sweet taste of the South.

Ingredients

  • 3 eggs
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • Dash salt
  • 1 cup dark corn syrup
  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • 1 cup pecans
  • Deep dish 9” pie crust unbaked

Instructions

  • Beat eggs with sugar, salt, dark corn syrup, and butter.
  • Add 1 cup pecans.
  • Bake at 350 degrees for 50 minutes in unbaked pie shell.

Yaya’s Tips for Success

This pie is all about texture, and a few little touches make all the difference:

  • Use room temperature eggs for smoother mixing.
  • Toast the pecans lightly before stirring them in for extra flavor.
  • Place the pie on a baking sheet just in case it bubbles over.
  • Let the pie cool for several hours to ensure it sets well. I usually make it the night before!
